Recognition

In your motivation letter:
1) You have to sign a paper in which you declare you respect the following laws:
* Universal declaration of human rights of december 10, 1948
* European Convention on human rights and fundamental freedoms of november 4, 1950
* International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights   of december 19, 1966
* The law on racism of july 30, 1981

2) The association has to be democratic in way of working and in its goals. It cannot proclaim, use or encourage violence. It also cannot have taken and take positions who are opposite to democratic values and human rights.

3) The association needs to have a permament post adres in the city of Leuven. This cannot be the adres of a faculty association or a LOKO department. (This can be a room of the president for example)

4)  The association's goals should be primarly aimed at students from Leuven (this includes the international students of course)

5) The association has to have organized in the previous year (so the one before the year in which you apply for recognition) at least one public activity for students in Leuven for which there was promotion via flyers or posters.

6) The association has to purchase members in a free way. This is also for every activity which can have financial consequences for the students. Members cannot be purchased without agreement of the student.

Extra criteria for associations of international students:
1) The activities organized by the association have to contribute to the integration of international students and Leuven students. These activites cannot be purely recreative or sportive.

2) The association has to aim in its goals primarly at international students. (All international students)


So you have to hand in at LOKO office: 's Meiersstraat 5, 3000 leuven and via e-mail to loko@loko.be:
* Your motivation letter with all requirements mentioned above in it
* a flyer or poster of at least one activity organized last year
* the permanent post adres for all clarity, this adres can be changed the year after

So you hand in this application. Then it goes to the subisidy commission for approval and this commission gives an advice to the general assembly which approves or disapproves afterwards.
Important to notice: If you are recognized, it is only for this year!!! For next year, you have to do this again.
